You have the wonderful opportunity to utilize the Comox Valley Home Based Business Association's website at its full capacity.

In order to do so, you'll need to know how to log into your web account. If you have already done so, you can store this message away for future use or discard it.

Many members have yet to log in, mostly because they don't know how. If you're not tech-savvy, fear not! The process was designed to be straight-forward.

When you first want to log in, you'll need to obtain a password. Go to www.cvhbba.com , click on "Directory" and then "Members Login". You will have reached the "Member's Login Page". Click on "Forgot Password" located on the right beside the "Password" textbox. You will then be prompted to enter and submit the email address of your account (as provided at your Membership Application). If you are unsure of the email address, please contact me or Linda Marinus (Membership Director) for that information.

After you type in your correct email address, click "Submit", and you will be given the message "Please check your email account for login instructions.". Click "Ok"

Please read your email instructions CAREFULLY.

It will greet you with your user name, which should be your FIRST INITIAL and LAST NAME, all one word. For example, John Smith's user name would be jsmith.

Then, you MUST ACTIVATE your password before you use it, even if you've just acquired a subsequent password. Just click on the link in your email and you will receive a confirmation message. If you don't activate your password, you can't login. Don't feel bad though; yours truly made the same mistake the first time.

Once you have successfully activated your password, go back to the Members Login Page and, before you type in your Username and Password, consider the Security code. The Security code is CASE SENSITIVE. Sometimes it is difficult to discern a "one" from an "ell", an "ess" from a "five", or a "zero" from an "oh". Merely refresh/reload your browser page until you are comfortable and sure about the code. Then, type in your Username, Password, and Security code (compare your entry carefully), and press the "Login" button. You will then be directed to the Member Information Form. Please read the top part which will explain the form. You can now edit your contact information, business information, place web advertisements, add news items or submit articles.

The email in your Contact Information relates back to your Forgot Password procedure. If you change that, remember to use it instead, if you have forgotten your Password. You can list your business on the website, directory or both (default) and have different descriptions for each. If you want to link to your website, select "Yes" at the bottom. Don't forget to click the "Update Business" button. Note that news items have a time limit while articles are left up on the site. Upcoming HBBA member events and announcements are posted as news items. If you have advice to give, or have something to pass along on doing business or a topic relevant to the HBBA, that's an article. Regardless of the section of your member login page, there is a comprehensive explanation beginning each section. When you are finished with your login session, click on "Logout ___" at the top right of the page.

To check your listing, go back to the alphabetical directory, click on your business name and you can view your listing.
